Extreme Machine & Urethane
QuickBooks Training Helps Extreme Machine & Urethane Grow Extreme Machine & Urethane, LLC in Broussard, Louisiana manufactures CNC machined products, Poly Urethane Molding, and does fabrication work for local businesses and companies based in Houston, Texas. The company currently has six employees and is owned by Jonathan Roberie, who founded the business in 2003. Jonathan was looking to factor invoices so that Extreme Machine & Urethane could achieve growth. When he approached local firm Commercial Capital Lending regarding factoring, Jonathan was told they could not move forward with factoring until Extreme Machine & Urethane established a standard methodology for bookkeeping. At the time, Jonathan was using QuickBooks software, but only for invoicing and not for bookkeeping. He was referred to the Manufacturing Extension Partnership of Louisiana (MEPOL) for assistance. MEPOL began by helping Jonathan secure some project funding assistance from the Louisiana Department of Economic Development's Small and Emerging Business Development (SEBD) program. Once Extreme Machine & Urethane was qualified for the SEBD program, MEPOL third-party consultant Ed Dauphin of Solutions for Business, Inc. provided Jonathan with QuickBooks training over a two week period. In addition to invoicing, Jonathan learned how to use the software for bookkeeping, checking and as a customer database. SEBD funds paid for half of the project cost. Once Jonathan began utilizing the QuickBooks software to its full capabilities, he was able to obtain factoring assistance from Commercial Capital Lending and has since experienced the following results: - $400,000 in increased sales
- 5 new jobs; 6 retained jobs
- Retained sales = $240,000
- Investment in new machines = $156,000
- Investment in information systems/hardware = $6,000
- Investment in other areas = $90,000
- Extreme Machine & Urethane paid only $467.50 of total $935 project cost; SEBD funding paid the other 50%
"MEPOL did a great job of coming in here and helping me apply for SEBD funding," Jonathan said. "When they brought in Ed Dauphin, he did a great job of teaching me everything about QuickBooks and how to make it work for my business. Because of the training, I am now able to factor invoices, which has allowed me to grow my company."
